The Little Fangs Chapter 2

Chapter 02
Chapter 02
*

Lin Yuchen brought me back to his home.

And it’s absolutely not because I’m scared he’ll hand me over to some research institute that I’m sticking to him like a shadow.

It’s because I want to keep drinking his blood.

The moment I step inside, I’m stunned.

This house is exactly where a noble vampire should live. The luxury rivals the mansion I lived in two centuries ago.

It almost feels like coming home.

Even if thinking that is a bit shameless.

Lin Yuchen sets me up in a room where the sunlight can’t reach.

But I don’t tell him that vampires actually can go out in the sun, I just don’t like it.

He asks me all sorts of questions about vampires, and for the sake of my future meals, I answer everything honestly.

After all, I can always wipe his memory later and he’ll forget everything.

I put on my most pitiful face: “Can I have a sip? I haven’t eaten anything today.”

Lin Yuchen pulls a carton of tomato juice from the fridge and hands it to me, his smile not quite reaching his eyes. His voice drips with sarcasm on the last four words: “Drink up, fresh red blood.”

I have a feeling Lin Yuchen has his own reasons for bringing me here.

I just can’t figure out what tricks he’s planning.

I toss and turn in bed, unable to sleep.

First night away from my little coffin, and I already miss it.

Since I can’t sleep, I decide to sneak into Lin Yuchen’s room for a midnight snack.

Clever guy—even locked his door.

But for a vampire, climbing in through the window is nothing.

He’s sleeping soundly, his breathing calm.

I lean in, sniffing for the best spot to bite.

I decide to go for the neck.

My fangs slide out, and I move in for the artery.

But just as I’m about to bite, he turns his head and I end up biting his lip instead.

His lip starts to bleed, and I instinctively lick the blood away.

I meet Lin Yuchen’s dark, shadowy gaze.

Like a kid caught doing something bad, I scurry back to my room.

At breakfast the next day, I notice the faint swelling on Lin Yuchen’s lip.

I force a smile, trying to ease the awkwardness.

He raises an eyebrow and invites me to sit.

On the table: a huge glass of tomato juice, a sandwich stuffed with tomatoes, and a plate where the ketchup nearly drowns the eggs. I’m speechless.

I stammer, “Vampires don’t really need to eat regular food, you know”

Lin Yuchen’s smile is full of payback: “Eat more tomatoes. Good for your vitamins.”

Vitamins, my foot.

I decide to get back at him: “Want me to lick your wound? It’ll heal instantly.”

Lin Yuchen surprises me by smirking, “Go ahead. Let’s see.”

Now I’m the one left speechless.

I cross my arms and lift my chin. “You’re not scared of me, even though you know I’m a vampire?”

Lin Yuchen taps his temple with those long, pale fingers: “You mean a vampire who’s all bark and no bite?”

Only Lin Yuchen can leave me speechless with just a few words.

I get up and touch his forehead, my fingertips glowing faintly. After three seconds, I pull my hand back.

Satisfied, I sit down and watch for his reaction.

Lin Yuchen bites into his sandwich, glancing at me. “What was that for?”

My face falls.

“???”

Wasn’t I supposed to erase his memory?

Mom, did you forget to teach me something?

I try it on Auntie Wang, the housekeeper, and it works perfectly.

But on Lin Yuchen..... Nothing.

He laughs at my frustrated expression and, feeling merciful, says, “Are you about to cry? Don’t worry, I’ll feed you.”

I don’t hold back: “Then I want to bite your neck.”

He pinches my cheeks: “Really treating me like your food supply? Only my hand.”

So I don’t spare a single one of his ten fingers.

Lin Yuchen’s friends invite him to a billiards hall.

I sprawl on the sofa, waving at him with a tub of popcorn in my arms.

Popcorn is my latest snack discovery, how can something taste this good?

Before leaving, Lin Yuchen glances at me and says slowly, “Be careful of the people in the building across the street they’re from the research institute.”

Suddenly, the popcorn in my arms doesn’t taste so great.

I jump up, wipe my hands, and blink at him. “Can I come with you?”

He doesn’t answer, just smirks and heads out.

At the billiards hall, his friends are already there.

They tease us for showing up together.

Lin Yuchen, shameless as ever, says, “She’s living at my place now, who else would I bring?”

Instantly, everyone’s eyes are on me, full of gossip.

A sharp gaze fixes on me. I turn and see the beautiful girl from the other night.

She looks like she’s about to grind her teeth to dust after hearing Lin Yuchen’s words.

Blame Lin Yuchen for running his mouth.

After downing a huge glass of tomato juice at lunch, I go off searching for the restroom. When I come out, the beautiful girl is waiting for me, her eyes unfriendly.

Her tone is just as unfriendly: “I’m Lin Yuchen’s childhood friend. Don’t think you can win just because you’re with him now.”

I blink, confused who’s with who?

She leans closer, her perfume mixing with the scent of her blood.

Smells kind of nice.

I swallow hard.

Just as I’m about to lure her into the bathroom for a feast, Lin Yuchen shows up.

“Yu Shasha,” he says flatly.

She turns, delighted to see him, and follows him away.

My plan foiled, I shake my hands and head out.

Lin Yuchen stops me, leans in, and whispers, “I’m a clean freak. If you bite someone else, you can’t bite me again. Understood?”

I pout. “What about all the people I bit before?”

Lin Yuchen just sighs at my logic.

He pats my head. “Starting now.”

So half a month passes peacefully.

A couple of times, we run into people from the building across the street.

Whenever they greet Lin Yuchen, I quietly shift behind him so he blocks their view.

Once, Lin Yuchen chats with one of them downstairs for ages, so I pinch a bit of skin at his waist.

He can’t help but laugh, finally saying goodbye.

He even secretly has my little coffin moved from my old shack to his place.

It’s still most comfortable sleeping in a coffin.

Funny story: a while back, Lin Yuchen asked me my name.

I told him, “Wuwu.”

He looked at me, amused. “Trying to act cute?”

Fine. So I told him my full name: Dracula Wu Duosimia.

He was silent for a moment. “Alright, Wuwu.”

One day, after I finished drinking blood from his fingertip, I asked, “Lin Yuchen, why did you really bring me back here?”

He pretended to look innocent. “Can’t I just make a friend?”

Yeah, right.

With Halloween approaching, Lin Yuchen suggests taking me to Happy Valley to meet other “ghosts.”

At first, I don’t want to go.

But he makes sure I’m well fed beforehand, so I agree.

Happy Valley’s Halloween night is packed with people.

Suddenly, I’m excited so much food!

Lin Yuchen seems to notice my delight. He stands behind me, pinching the back of my neck and leans in, voice icy: “Remember what I told you, okay”

To keep from getting separated in the crowd, he keeps his hand on the back of my neck.

Honestly, can’t he hold my hand or something? This makes me look short.

After we leave one haunted house, we head straight for the next. I start to see the fun in it.

Even vampires need a little excitement.

Lin Yuchen goes to the restroom, leaving me outside. I watch as one blood bag after another walks by, and I start to drool.

Someone taps me on the shoulder it’s two people dressed as vampires... who, judging by the scent, are actually real vampires.
